UC Berkeley Presents: An Afternoon Dedicated to Urdu
(Press Release) — BERKELEY, CA (April 22, 2008) Pakistani Students Association at the University of California, Berkeley has officially announced the Urdu Cultural Show that it has been planning for the past few weeks. “Eik Dupair, Urdu Ki Sair” which in English means “An Afternoon Dedicated to Urdu” will host a variety of segments in Urdu that will include skits, plays, musical performances, speeches and other fun activities.
This is not the first time that the Pakistan Student Association is organizing such an event. Last year, a similar urdu culture show was conducted at U. C. Berkeley and due to its great success, the organizers at PSA have decided to put on yet another show showcasing the urdu talent among today’s youngsters. The event is anticipated to be bigger and better than last year.
Basic purpose of the show is to celebrate the Urdu language. Organizers of the show will donate the proceeds from the ticket sales to DIL (Development In Literacy) which is a non-profit organization that is activly promoting literacy in pakistan.
